Yes, on some boards. Not on all of them.
Greenhouse can email candidates. The feature is called MyGreenhouse. On a board where the employer has turned it on, you will see something like “Create job alert.” You sign in with an email code, pick titles (and sometimes departments), and get a daily or weekly note.
That is a real applicant feature. It is also easy to miss, because a lot of Greenhouse pages never show the button. The company has to enable it. A pretty Greenhouse site with no alert is not you failing to look. It is them leaving it off.
If “Create job alert” is on the page, use it. If it is not, stop hunting through Greenhouse’s help center. You wanted that company.
What MyGreenhouse actually sends
Greenhouse’s own docs describe the shape. You can usually follow up to eight titles. Employers may also allow department alerts. Mail goes out daily or weekly, and Greenhouse has said that means about 8:00 in your time zone. Alerts from every board you follow can land in one email. Jobs that are merely republished are not treated as new.
One MyGreenhouse login can cover more than one company’s board. Handy if several names you like all happen to use Greenhouse. Useless if the company you care about never switched the feature on. Check Greenhouse’s job alert article if you want the vendor’s wording, since they can change the caps.
The limits, said once
- The employer decides whether candidate alerts exist on that board.
- Mail is daily or weekly, which is late for a role that fills faster than that.
- You filter by title and maybe department, not by a pile of exclude words.
- A broad title can pull senior variants too. Greenhouse has noted that “Project manager” can also match “Senior project manager.”
How to recognise the page, and watch it
A Greenhouse board is usually on boards.greenhouse.io, job-boards.greenhouse.io, or job-boards.eu.greenhouse.io, with the company as the first path segment. The employer turns candidate alerts on under Configure → MyGreenhouse. Greenhouse lists that feature on Core, Plus, and Pro. If the button is there, use it. If it is not, paste that careers URL into a company watch, add the job title you want, and take the email when a matching role is first seen.
So you still start from the company
The search that got you here might have been “Greenhouse job alerts.” The search you will type next week is the company name. Greenhouse is only the plumbing. Lever often has no applicant button at all. Workday usually has its own saved search. Neither fact changes the company you wanted. Lever and Workday if you are comparing buttons. When the button is missing, watch that company’s careers URL and filter the role. The company list is a faster start than learning every board’s settings screen.

A role can appear on a company’s careers page before a job board copies it. Some never do.
